Media Relations Manager

We're looking for an experienced Media Relations Manager to join our corporate PR team who protect and promote Asda's reputation with external stakeholders.

In this interesting and varied role, you will work as part of a core team to support the corporate positioning of Asda through the development of both proactive and reactive PR programmes across a number of areas. These include communicating our corporate strategy, financial communications, ESG and employer brand.

We offer hybrid working for this role which typically involves spending 2-3 days a week at our HQ in Leeds or another Asda location.

Responsibilities Include

Develop strong relationships with key teams across Asda to understand priorities and identify opportunities to communicate Asda's strategy to different external stakeholders
Build and deliver communications plans for specific business projects, initiatives or campaigns
Provide strategic advice to senior management on the PR implications of business decisions and develop appropriate plans to manage brand reputation in such scenarios
Identify reputational threats and manage media enquiries from national, local and online media
Provide support to the Asda Press office as and when required
Maintain excellent contacts with key media contacts at trade, regional and national level

Essential Skills And Experience

A minimum of five year's PR experience gained either in-house or in a PR agency
Experience in developing and implementing creative PR plans that deliver impactful results and resonate across the full traditional and new media mix
Strong proactive and reactive media relations skills
Experience in crisis communications and issues management
Proven track record of providing PR-related advice and guidance to senior stakeholders within a large, complex environment
Previous experience in the grocery or retail sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
