The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for helping Xavier tell its story in compelling ways. Working closely with the Vice President for Communications and Marketing, the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing, and in collaboration with colleagues across the institution, the Assistant Director contributes to Xavier’s overall communications strategy, conceptualizing and implementing cross-platform communications to support admissions, advancement, and general institutional goals.
Reports to: Vice President for Communications and Marketing
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Produce the biweekly Xavier E-News, managing content production and evaluation through creation and review of monthly analytics reporting.
2. Serve as site administrator for the school website in collaboration with users across the institution; create, publish, and approve content and carry primary responsibility for site updates, functionality, and staff support.
3. Oversee institutional social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Flickr) communications, managing content production through a social media calendar and evaluation through creation and review of monthly analytics reporting.
4. Launch and manage multi-platform social media marketing campaigns; track results of each campaign; stay up-to-date with the latest social media marketing trends.
5. Liaise with departmental social media accounts, reviewing frequently to assure brand and social media policy adherence.
6. Write for and assist with the editing of Xavier Magazine and the Annual Report.
7. Take photos and shoot video regularly; edit and package content for cross-platform use.
8. Schedule the work and provide logistical support to external contractors and consultants including photographers, videographers, and others.
9. Maintain an organized institutional photo and video archive, collaborating with school archivist as appropriate.
10. In collaboration with the Vice President for Communications and Marketing and Associate Director of Communications and Marketing, work closely with admissions, advancement, and the Headmaster’s Office to coordinate the message of Xavier High School. Provide strategic communications guidance and support to colleagues across the institution.
11. Champion correct usage of graphic and editorial standards and brand guidelines; protect and promote the school brand and identity by ensuring all communications content maintains a high level of quality and features a consistent tone and style.
12. Manage design and purchase of business cards and employee nametags.

14. Support the mission of Xavier and the work of communications and marketing through regular presence at events, appropriate participation in the retreat and service programs, and ongoing participation in Jesuit Schools Network and province activities.
15. Engage in ongoing professional development (CASE, Public Relations Society of America, Jesuit Schools Network, etc.).
16. Other duties as assigned.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $58,500-$70,000, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills. Xavier also offers a competitive benefits package.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, marketing, public relations, media studies, journalism, or related field; graduate degree in one of these fields a plus
• At least three years of experience in communications
• Strong, compelling writer and editor with excellent communication skills
• Creative, organized, detail-oriented self-starter; able to work independently
• Digital marketer—has experience with email marketing, social media, and web design
• Understands and can communicate the importance of brand adherence and visual identity and editorial standards
• Consistent track record of collaboration and juggling multiple priorities
• Proficiency with CMS, social media and social media management tools, video editing software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and Microsoft Suite
