The LaFollette Press, an award-winning weekly newspaper in Tennessee, has an immediate opening for an assistant editor. LaFollette, Tennessee, sits roughly a half-hour drive away from Knoxville in beautiful Campbell County. The locale is known for its gorgeous mountains and lakes and vibrant tourism economy. Tourism is such a big part of the area that the Press produces a four-times-a-year summer magazine called Norris Life, which is one of several special magazines the newspaper produces over the course of the calendar year. The assistant editor would report directly to the editor and serve as the newspaper’s chief news reporter, primarily covering the county commission, courts and crime. The job would also include compiling and formatting the paper’s obituaries. The assistant editor job is a full-time, hourly position, complete with benefits. The Press seeks a self-motivated individual, willing to go the extra mile to not only cover the basics but also to search for something more — that scoop that readers will be talking about with their friends.
