Assistant Editor -NBA, WNBA (Freelance)

The Assistant Editor role is a full-time freelance position on CBS Sports’ digital pro basketball desk that calls for working alongside other editors, a team of reporters, producers and our social media unit in order to create and publish vital content for our fans. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a proactive approach toward publishing news, have a knack for spotting trends and is adept at aggregating breaking news in a speedy manner – but not at the expense of accuracy. Being a basketball fan, along with possessing knowledge of the league, its players, the major storylines and some history of the sport is essential. Night, weekend and certain holiday work will be required, and the ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with writers and other editors as well as work well independently. Solid writing, editing and communication skills are essential. A sense of humor will also come in handy. The digital arm of CBS Sports has offices in Fort Lauderdale, Nashville and Stamford, CT, and the candidate would be able, but not required, to work out of any of those locations. Remote work is also an option.
