Assistant Professor of Journalism

The Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries within the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University is looking for two active journalism and media scholars to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor. Possible areas of research and teaching focus include but are not limited to the following clusters: 1) Emerging news and information ecosystems: technologically innovative journalism, data analytics in journalism, AI journalism, social media and journalism, digital media and storytelling, and/or 2) Global journalism, social movements and social media activism, disinformation and democracy, political journalism/communication, visual journalism, media ethics, community journalism in physical and virtual (online) spaces with a focus on bilingual/multilingual journalism, or journalism in multicultural, multi-ethnic spaces. These are full-time tenure-track positions, and both early career scholars as well as those at the advanced Assistant Professor stage are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a completed Ph.D. degree in journalism/media studies/mass communication, and teaching experience are preferred, but applicants with advanced ABD status by August 2023, with demonstrated record of scholarly productivity and effective teaching will be considered. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023, with faculty on-duty in mid-August, 2023.
