Salary circa: $70K to $76K plus 15.4% Nominated Super

About the Role

In this role you will learn, develop and build journalism skills under the routine direction of the Newsgathering Producer and Deputy News Editor. You will also actively contribute original story ideas and angles to editorial meetings as well as write scripts that effectively communicate concepts and issues.

You will also:

Produce content for a range of ABC News platforms, learning different storytelling techniques.
Record, gather, edit and produce material working from the office and field locations.
Manage time and resources to always deliver on editorial and content objectives.
Assist Content Makers in the planning and production of web and app, radio and TV News bulletins.
Generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.

About You

We are seeking a passionate storyteller with a demonstrated interest in journalism and/or experience in a News, media or communications environment. You are a creative self-starter with problem solving skills, the ability to follow instructions and enthusiasm for learning new skills.

You will also have:

Experience and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
A good knowledge of local, national and international News issues.
A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
A proven ability to source and maintain contacts across the broader Australian community.
