Your key responsibilities will include the following:

Sourcing, researching, writing, producing, sub-editing and publishing stories on the latest environment-related research and issues.
Creating a range of digital content – using new and emerging formats - to give the ABC’s audience a better understanding of the background and context of environment news stories and events.
Researching, writing, producing, sub-editing and publishing long-form, visually rich digital features exploring a wide variety of environmental topics and themes.
Working with relevant ABC content makers on cross-team environment-focused investigations and collaborations.
Developing and maintaining contacts in the environmental science community.
Using social media creatively to help source stories and distributing content to engage new audiences.

About You

Tertiary qualification or significant work experience in environmental science or science journalism.
Ability to source and deliver high quality environment stories – both news and features – for an online audience.
Ability to create engaging digital content for a broad audience.
Experience in digital production and demonstrated interest in storytelling on new and emerging digital platforms.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and to communicate effectively with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
A passion to tell authentic stories which represent the diversity of the Australian community.
Understanding of the role the ABC plays in the Australian cultural and media landscape.
