Do you love coffee and a work day that is never the same as the one before? ABC News Breakfast is looking for an experienced producer to write, edit and prepare content for the program and its digital platforms. This is a position that would suit someone with at least five years’ experience in a broadcast news environment. The role will include;

Undertaking a range of production tasks under limited direction from the Executive Producer and Supervising Producer across a 24 hour/seven day roster.
Writing and producing program elements including overlay, RVOs, teases, openers, grabs and packages.
Producing concise, accurate and engaging copy/edits that have been tailored for a breakfast television audience. Check stories and content for factual and style errors/inconsistencies.
Leading the production desk, building rundowns and supporting other staff.
Generating and coordinating guest bookings. As part of the daily news cycle, suggest story, segment and interview ideas. As well as lining up key interviews with news-makers, along with identify fresh angles in ongoing and developing stories.

About You

You have strong editorial judgement developed through your experience and background as a broadcast producer or reporter. You will have a working understanding of the tone of breakfast television and a wide knowledge base that covers international and national news, as well as sport, finance and popular culture.

You Will Also Have

A demonstrated track record of writing and producing clean, accurate news content as well as banners, teases and other program elements.
Accomplished understanding of the technical and logistics challenges of television news production.
Demonstrated ability to produce editorial content which will comply with Editorial Policies and Style Guides. Accomplished Desk Top Editing skills.
Accomplished communication skills and commitment to working in a multi skilled team environment.
Strong time management skills and the experience of working to tight deadlines.
A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
