The Role
Journalists at Chasing Cars assist the deputy editor and digital production specialist with the creation of timely, original, incisive content covering the automotive industry in Australia and around the world. Journalists have the capability to produce such content for written and video media, meeting deadlines and our quality promise.
Position Accountabilities
Create high-quality, original written and video content against targets for the Chasing Cars website and video channels, in compliance with deadlines and provided style and form requirements
Efficiently turn around breaking news stories on topics of immediate relevance
Collaborate with the deputy editor and digital production specialist on completing content packages around embargoed content, upholding its secrecy within and outside of the organization
Understand and efficiently utilise Chasing Cars content management systems and platforms
Have and/or develop a working understanding of basic video editing skills
Uphold Chasing Cars’ professionalism standards when communicating internally and with sources outside of the organisation
Professionally represent Chasing Cars on vehicle launches and other content opportunities
Act as a driver or passenger when conducting vehicle evaluation or major content programs
Perform Act in accordance with A&G’s values, relevant guidelines and legislation without exception, communicating our values and ensuring systems and processes are compliant
Perform other reasonable and relevant activities as requested from time to time
Ensure A&G is meeting its contractual and legal obligations
Qualifications And Experience
Formal qualifications in a relevant area of study, such as journalism, media, law, commerce, and business – or equivalent practical experience of no less than 12 months
Strong command of the English language in written and verbal forms, with a demonstrated knowledge of automotive terms
A deep understanding and knowledge of cars, and the Australian motoring landscape, is essential
A clear interest in journalism and evolving media formats, including video, is necessary
Stronger candidates will have a demonstrated ability to deliver results against requirements
Specific motoring or motoring journalism industry experience is desired
