Digital Editor, What's the Best

We drive the digital business of Bauer Media Group in the UK and are the powerhouse behind strong digital websites such as Motorcycle News, Today’s Golfer, Mother&Baby and Yours. In this role you will lead the editorial strategy, oversee affiliate-led content and manage a team of digital and commercial content writers. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the highest quality content is delivered in line with the brand's proposition and ambitions. Success in this role means meeting and exceeding targets to take What’s the Best to the next level.

Being an expert in tech and fitness products is only the starting point for this exciting new role – you'll then need to understand the market, the audience, and the exact questions they will ask of your content. We have ambitious plans for What’s the Best and require an equally ambitious editor who can deliver them, with a proven history of planning content for growth and the ability to run a tight ship of talented writers who demand the best leadership.

At Bauer, you’ll be joining a motivated, fun-loving, inclusive, and open-hearted bunch, in a working environment where team-playing and individual brilliance are both celebrated and supported. We can also offer further training and the opportunity to thrive within a highly successful multinational business.

We are looking for a competent, friendly and reliable Digital Editor for What's the Best as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

You create content plans on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, in collaboration with a wider group of stakeholders e.g. SEO and communicate and implement those to/with the editorial team
You manage the delivery of all content requirements, including affiliate-led content, using both in-house and freelance resources, in order to reach monthly traffic and revenue goals
You work closely with your Audience development representative to ensure content is well optimised and performing, be it on Search, Discover, Social or other focus channels
In conjunction with the in-house Insights team, you will review and analyse content performance to ensure it is meeting the user needs, engaging and delivering sales
You develop and execute a strategy for sourcing, testing, and reviewing products relevant to the brand proposition and goals
You work hand in hand with the Audience Development team to ensure content is constantly achieving best practice guidelines
You work closely with the wider editorial teams to support What’s the Best’s objectives
You will lead members of the in-house content team and provide guidance and support

This role will see you working with Bauer brand stakeholders, sales teams, wider editorial teams and external partners at all levels. You will develop a strong knowledge of the Bauer portfolio and a level of trust that indicates you have the brands best interests at heart.

What You'll Bring:

You have a deep understanding of consumer needs in the areas of tech and fitness, and know what good content needs to respond to them
Demonstrable experience in the management of a content generating team, preferably within a publishing environment and with experience in commercially focused content
You have high quality in commissioning, writing and editing
You have good people management and leadership skills, including coaching and development of junior journalists
You bring along analytical skills, including understanding engagement metrics and conversion rates
You are an expert at generating traffic, including on-page SEO, Google Discover and other sources
You are a proactive character capable of driving projects and a team forwards
You have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms, experience in working with a content management system and in using image editing software
You are familiar with the major analytics and reporting programs e.g. Google Analytics

Closing Date: Monday 22nd January

Our workforce of 15,000 shares a passion – to deliver content and services that are popular with, and helpful to, our customers and partners.
