Bauer Media is recruiting a Content Editor – TV Planning, to lead the TV Planning Department within the wider TV and Celebrity Content Team. You will report to the Deputy Head of Content (TV) and provide a top-tier information service to our two market-leading TV Weeklies – TV Choice and Total TV Guide, as well as supporting TV planning for the wider portfolio of Bauer magazine titles.
The focus of the role:
This role will be pivotal in providing the TV team with industry intelligence data and trend information to support decisions on strategic direction for the TV division. It will involve researching and providing forward planning information from the main channels, satellite and streaming services. You will also monitor weekly and monthly schedules and press updates for changes to expected programme scheduling, and relay the most up-to-date information to the team to ensure accuracy of TV content delivery. You’ll be meticulous in inputting advanced information into our systems, and will provide a full list of advanced information to support our weekly conference meetings, as well as liaising with our editorial teams.
The Content Editor – TV Planning will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, to build and nurture relationships with external partners eg. Press and Scheduling teams, and our internal stakeholders eg. TV Brand Editor, Production and Listings departments. As well as receiving information from TV channels about upcoming shows, you will be proactive in seeking out the latest TV trends, to ensure we stay ahead of the competition. Eg. Where appropriate you’ll attend forward planning showcase events held by the major channels and streaming services, to be on the front line of new releases.
As line manager to two TV Planners, you’ll lead the planning department to deliver accurate channel information to our business. Additionally, you will support in the provision of the information to form the basis of the categories and genres used for the TV Choice awards annual voting process.
Main Responsibilities:
Runs a highly proficient and accurate TV planning process across the editorial departments, providing forward planning information from the main channels and all satellite and streaming services.
Constantly relays & communicates the most up to date information to ensure accuracy of TV content delivery
Manages a team of planners
Key contributor in content planning meetings with key stakeholders/content leads
Build relationships with internal and external partners – e.g press and scheduling teams
Ideation and content creation based on industry intelligence and trend data eg. For the US planners
Proof-reading pages prior to publication and ensuring any changes are updated
Supporting with the TV Choice awards annual voting process
May act up to make editorial decisions in the absence of Brand Editor and Deputy Head of Content
What you'll bring:
Experience in a senior role within a TV media environment, either as the head of a TV publication’s editorial department or forward planning team, or in publicity at a main TV channel.
A genuine passion for TV shows and productions from all genres.
Capable of producing consistent, high-quality core information across portfolio
In possession of a packed contacts book for key individuals in the publicity teams at the main channels, streaming services and publicity agencies.
Proven managerial skills, and capable of deputising on key decisions
Able to gain proficiency with Monday.com WW Assets and Studio through training
Efficient, diary-driven and organised, with great attention to detail, and ability to prioritise and multi-task
Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and planners would be useful, but training will be given
Excellent communication skills
Ability to collaborate and lead cross team consistency on content delivery
Proof-reading skills
