The Digital Automotive Hub is the editorial powerhouse behind the Parkers.co.uk and Carmagazine.co.uk websites. Working with the site editors for those brands and other stakeholders, we provide a wide range of content to spec, on time, and in keeping with all current SEO guidelines and business goals.
You’ll be joining a motivated, fun-loving, inclusive and open-hearted bunch, in a working environment where team-playing and individual brilliance are both celebrated and supported. We can also offer further training and the opportunity to thrive within a highly successful multinational business.
The Focus of the Role:
The hub’s staff writers are the heart of our automotive brands, creating content that is carefully curated to excite our audiences and drive maximum audience reach and results for Bauer’s motoring websites. They work across Parkers, CAR and other Bauer automotive titles where applicable, helping the hub to meet the content requirements and goals for each outlet, writing for the ordinary everyday motorist as well as the enthusiast, reflecting the diversity of our readership, which includes around a million female readers every month.
The senior staff writer role will include reviewing cars and other vehicles, attending launches and other events, assisting with road test bookings and general review continuity, plus taking on and managing individual projects when required. Supporting SEO and audience goals surrounding news, advice and evergreen content are also of vital importance. As such, the successful candidate will work with the head of the hub, website editors, SEO/audience development and other key stakeholders to help achieve the necessary balance of content that our titles require.
Key Responsibilities:
To lead by example when delivering high-quality content on time and to the brief across multiple brands, taking account of house style and tone while meeting deadlines and output targets
To create content for everyone, and be a part of pushing new content to a diverse audience
Taking an active role in continuity planning across the Bauer modern motoring titles
Help to set and maintain best practice to suit editorial, SEO and business goals, including understanding and assisting with prioritisation for content delivery
Reporting from car launches and other events; this will require the ability and willingness to travel regularly both within and outside of the UK
Consistently creating and maintaining top-quality evergreen, SEO, news and finance content
Keeping up to date with relevant aspects of the car industry
Understanding and using data to make content decisions, marrying human and analytical insight to create brilliant, must-read content as well as understanding what works – and what doesn’t
Striving for excellence in every aspect, including writing, picture selection, subbing, SEO, data analysis, CMS housekeeping and more
Assisting with photo and video shoots, newsletters and social media when required, with the flexibility to be on hand at the office as necessary
Cooperate and work effectively with other teams within Bauer to support wider goals
