We’re the Bay Area’s premier news organization, and we’re seeking a reporter to cover a collection of cities in Alameda and Contra Costa County — Alameda, Hayward, San Leandro and Lamorinda – vital communities confronting the challenges of crime, high housing costs, economic disruption and ethnic change. You'll pick off the most interesting breaking news, dig deeper into community issues, and tell stories that speak to life in one of the country's most vibrant and challenging regions. The ideal reporter for this position will thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the energy to jump from one hot story to the next, writing for online and print audiences. You should be able to work both alone and collaboratively with a skilled cast of reporters and editors. There will be opportunities for deeper enterprise, but it should be approached with competitive urgency.
