Journalist

BBC Cumbria is looking for three multi-skilled journalists to join its hardworking, dedicated team in this large, diverse county. We’re looking for people who can find and tell compelling stories across radio and social media – and help colleagues turn those stories into tv and online articles - in a way that appeals to our existing audience, and attracts new audiences. You will be dealing with breaking news and bringing in contacts and ideas for original stories. The successful candidates will be creative, curious and keen to dig out the stories that others can’t find in this unique county.

As a reporter, you will do live and recorded reports, and write for outlets across a range of platforms. As a producer, you will find the most interesting guests, brief presenters and inspire a team. As a social media journalist you will turn our output into the most clickable online stories and find and film stories for social media.

All candidates will have good knowledge of editorial policy and media law, and be team players.

The jobs will be based in our Carlisle newsroom.
