Job Introduction
BBC Gloucestershire is advertising for a journalist/producer capable of bringing the best of Gloucestershire’s stories to air.
You’ll be adept at finding off-diary stories and exclusives and bringing to life the topics important to Radio Gloucestershire’s listeners and the BBC news website audience. You’ll be as comfortable producing a show as you are at digging out stories from around the county.
The role will report for radio and online as well as having the ability to be trained in making social media videos and TV packages.
Main Responsibilities
You will play a daily role in the editorial planning and story output of the BBC in Gloucestershire.
We are looking for an experienced producer, who is used to getting the best guests on air, working speedily to set up stories and also to work with the news team, delivering multiple stories a week.
You’ll have a proven track record in news judgement, an awareness of our audiences and you’ll know how to engage with all communities. You will have to work quickly and flexibly. You must have sound editorial judgement and awareness of the need for impartiality. You will need to build strong relationships with contacts around the county
Are you the right candidate?
Good writing and audio editing skills, knowledge of working in ops, and an ability to communicate stories in a simple, straightforward and engaging manner. You will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the BBC's Editorial Guidelines.
You will be an experienced journalist with strong track record of original storytelling. And you’ll be enthusiastic about collaborating with colleagues in the BBC to make sure that your content successfully travels across online, radio, tv and social media.
