Job Purpose
BBC Radio Northampton is looking for a great journalist with sharp writing skills and a terrific voice to read its news bulletins on a Saturday.
You will be preparing and reading new bulletins on the hour for BBC Radio Northampton, and ensuring our smart speaker bulletins are delivered too.
You’ll be used to reacting to breaking stories and have a confident on-air voice with prior experience reading news bulletins.
You’ll be an organised individual with a can-do attitude and a knack for being able to deliver the day’s news in an accessible way.
You’ll be competent with technology and have experience working in radio studios.
You’ll be happy working alone in the news studio, but able to liaise with a wider regional team of newsreaders and online colleagues, to ensure our content can reach a wider audience.
Key Skills
Significant recent experience of reading live radio bulletins and working in a studio.
Clear and confident on-air voice
Excellent editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
Able to work to tight deadlines and react to changes.
Significant experience in audio editing
Excellent knowledge of BBC Editorial Guidelines and media law.
