We’re looking for a talented radio newsreader to join the team in Leeds – producing and presenting high quality news bulletins across our weekend shows on BBC Radio Leeds.
Main Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for writing, compiling and presenting news bulletins as part of our recently relaunched weekend schedule on BBC Radio Leeds.
We’re proud of our bulletins – written and presented with flair, and featuring powerful local voices, they are the “shop window” for our journalism.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to spot and sell great stories, and can work to tight deadlines to get them on air.
The role involves working closely with colleagues in other parts of the newsroom – including online and TV – to ensure our weekend news content reaches the largest possible audience. As part of the West Yorkshire Local Story Team, you’ll also be expected to contribute story ideas and treatments.
Although the regular shifts will be at the weekend, there may be occasional opportunities to work as part of the weekday team.

A track record of making editorial decisions on their own
Strong audio editing skills (knowledge of Dira is desirable, but not essential)
Good organisational skills
