The Billings Gazette is Montana’s largest newspaper and we are seeking a general assignment reporter to join our team of smart young reporters and veterans. We’re part of a network of four other Montana newspapers and a state capitol bureau that share planning and resources, allowing reporters more time to work on bigger, deeper pieces.
And our community has noticed. Our readership is rising steadily, along with our digital subscriptions, and for eight years in a row The Gazette has been named the best newspaper in the state.
But, that’s not all we’re offering to the right reporter. Billings is a growing city with a vibrant, walkable downtown featuring fine dining, performing arts centers, live music venues, art galleries, and more than our share of craft brew pubs. There’s even an international airport that you could literally walk to. And, if experiencing life outdoors is your thing, Montana has everything!
The ideal candidate will have a journalism degree and experience however, we will consider new graduates who have completed internships or experience at their college newspaper or candidates with journalism experience. The ability to produce print and digital media is a must. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
This is a Guild position with required membership and pay starting at $42,000 annually.
