We are seeking an experienced, energetic and self-starting reporter to join our team in covering Thailand. You are someone with a strong network of sources who is at ease covering daily breaking news as well as adept at pulling together enterprise stories that paint the big picture for a global audience. You will work with a team of reporters and be responsible for staying on top of the often fast-paced Thai political developments that make or break a government, policy announcements that will impact businesses, markets and the economy. You will help cover some of the Thai companies in the forefront of embracing new technologies, investing billions of dollars in widening their global footprints. You need a collaborative attitude and must embrace an all-hands-on deck approach, which means often taking the lead in writing or even editing the early versions of a breaking news. You will have opportunities to explore multiple formats to tell a story, be it through a long-form article, a chart or a video package.
We'll trust you to:
Cover daily breaking news from press briefings, media statements and credible sources
Handle headlines accurately and competitively, including from other reporters
Pitch and write stories that give business readers a better understanding of Thailand
Develop government, political, industry and other sources to produce exclusive stories
Work as a key member of the Bangkok bureau, including doing bureau shifts
Be committed to the best journalistic practices, sound judgment and willingness to learn
Collaborate with other reporters and editors around the world
Be comfortable with using technology and new tools
You'll need to have:
At least five years of experience in journalism, preferably in financial and business reporting
Fluency in spoken and written English and Thai
Proven ability to write clean, clear and accurate stories on deadline
Knowledge of how financial markets, the economy and corporations function
Knowledge of the process involved in government policy making
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
