Bloomberg News is looking for a dynamic, driven journalist to lead coverage at the intersection of politics, policy, and education — from kindergarten classrooms to college campuses. You’ll report on how the Trump administration’s agenda is reshaping the education landscape — and what that means for the economy, politics, and millions of Americans.

This is a high-profile, fast-moving beat that touches everything from federal funding battles to the $1.6 trillion student debt crisis, immigration policy, tax law, and ideological fights over academic freedom. You’ll deliver scoops, uncover trends, and produce insightful enterprise journalism that drives the national conversation.

We’ll expect you to:

Break news with urgency and depth, staying ahead of the curve on key policy shifts
Build and maintain strong sourcing networks across government agencies, Congress, think tanks, and advocacy groups
Deliver authoritative reporting that explains the implications of education policy for the economy and society
Produce enterprise stories that uncover hidden narratives and challenge assumptions
Collaborate with colleagues across teams, including data, visuals, and audio, to create compelling multimedia journalism
Monitor and analyze key data sets related to education, student debt, federal budgets, and outcomes

You’ll need to have:

4+ years of journalism experience
Proven experience breaking news and writing in-depth policy stories
A strong understanding of U.S. politics, public policy, and economic principles
A track record of building reliable, high-level sources
The ability to translate complex policies into clear, engaging journalism for a global audience
Familiarity with data analysis and how to use data to inform and strengthen reporting
A self-starting, collaborative mindset


Salary Range = 90000 - 120000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
