The Bristol Herald Courier and bristolnews.com, an award-winning daily newspaper/website on the border of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, is seeking a talented, enterprising journalist to join our newsroom team. This is a full-time, general assignment position where you will be covering local government, education, business and economic development, crime/courts and writing feature stories. The reporter will be expected to produce compelling, timely and well-sourced stories with the opportunity to develop more in-depth projects
The best candidates possess excellent spelling and grammar skills, natural curiosity, the ability to write accurately on deadline, juggle multiple assignments and manage time efficiently, work cooperatively, understand and use social media and sometimes shoot photos and video as part of the story-telling process.
Schedule will be flexible with a combination of days and nights, depending on meetings or other event coverage and an occasional weekend day or night.
A college degree in journalism or communications plus two years of experience working in a news media environment greatly preferred.
