Job Description:
As part of the Bureau Team, the reporter is responsible to generate new and interesting news stories to cover. They must always be looking for unique, relevant and urgent topics to bring to the public, and investigate interesting new angles of stories that have already been covered.
The reporter is responsible to generate news-making and analytical content for Sky News Arabia's website and other digital platforms and to initiate news stories and cover both breaking and pre-planned news.
Part of the reporter main responsibilities is to provide the country and regional expertise of events, and to work as part of an industry leading Team which requires working internationally and across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
Recognizes news stories, pursues them aggressively and conducts researches to collect information on assigned topics to report accurate and timely news.
Gathers news using contacts and sources through personal interviews, wire services, news briefings by the government or press releases sent by companies.
Gathers the required materials and assembles them for broadcast, then narrates the stories clearly and confidently either on air or through written digital content.
Follows the latest political and news developments while working closely with the bureau producer and the Newsgathering Team in the Headquarter to set the agenda of news for the region.
Participates in broadcasting whether filmed live or recorded presenting the news, either in a studio or in the field, depending on the story, usually reads off of a script, but also must be knowledgeable about the topic to be reported on.
Conducts interviews which might be broadcasted live, or pre-recorded and edited.
Conducts research in advance to be prepared to ask pointed and interesting questions related to the interview subject.
Works effectively as part of a team, co-operates with other members and demonstrates a collaborative and supportive approach in order to achieve the end result of delivering Sky News Arabia's requirements for original, distinctive journalism.
Works well under pressure and shows ability to cover a diverse range of stories across different parts of the region when required. Equally comfortable dealing with minute-by minute breaking news and for longer on exclusive investigations.
Key Skills, Experience & Education:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor Degree in journalism and relevant social science degree is an advantage.
Must be Inquisitive, outgoing and driven, must display curiosity to find out as much as they can about any given topic and share it with the public.
Displays strong writing skills, and ability to convey information in a clear, concise and conversational manner.
Excellent live reporting skills and strong on-camera presentation skills.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Ability to interact professionally and build relationships and sources.
Ability to shoot and pre-edit digital videos.
Social Media & Multimedia experience.
Bilingual in Arabic & English is a must.
