Business Insider is hiring a motion design fellow to join the “So Expensive” video team. This fellowship is set to begin in January 2024.

The Role & Team:
The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week.
Fellows on this team help develop and create motion graphics that elevate our videos..
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with showrunners, producers, videographers, and editors to develop and create motion graphics that elevate our videos.
Identifying and creating relevant graphics such as graphs, maps, text elements, motion graphics templates, backgrounds, and more
Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
Proofreading and copyediting
The ideal candidate has:
A passion for digital storytelling and voracious reading habits
A general knowledge of principles and standards of journalism
Familiarity with digital and social media
Additionally, candidates for the motion design fellowship should have:
A strong grasp of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and a solid working knowledge of the overall Adobe Creative Suite
A passion for storytelling through video on the topics we cover
An ability to quickly storyboard from scripts into videos that will be shared across platforms
Familiarity with digital and social media
An ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
Effective communication skills and be receptive to feedback
Proofreading and copyediting skills
Our videos cover a range of subjects, including food, travel, design, art, beauty, and more. Candidates should be familiar with our existing videos and eager to contribute work in our style. Recent examples include:

Fellows are paid £24,000 pro-rata
Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period
This position starts in Jan 2024 and requires that you work full-time for six months.
Business Insider is a flexible workplace when it comes to remote work, but an important part of the fellowship is being a part of the newsroom in person for learning opportunities. Fellows are asked to come into our offices in London at least two days a week.
