News Curation Editor

New Posted 10 August 2022 | Remote | BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed News is looking for an experienced audience strategist with a gift for online storytelling to join our News Curation team, the newsroom's hub for distribution strategy on- and off-platform. The team does everything from running social media accounts to working with editors to prepare stories to travel far and wide across the internet. We are a team that values curious self-starters who know how to work closely with both their fellow curators and the broader newsroom to achieve great things. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience at a news organization; a track record of writing punchy, accessible copy; and a forward-thinking strategic mindset. You should be eager to figure out what people are sharing and talking about online and how that blends into how we promote BuzzFeed News' unique and award-winning journalism. Being an absolute nerd about news and how information travels on the internet is a must! This role is for our morning editor: Your day will start at 8 a.m. ET, applying your news judgment and expertise to program our channels as the East Coast wakes up. As the rest of the Curation teams come online, you will be responsible for making sure BuzzFeed News' journalism is distributed across your assigned platforms for the day. Just as important as running platforms, you will work with desk editors across the newsroom to prepare headlines and promotional plans. This job is full-time with no location requirements.
