The Transaction Team at Dotdash Meredith is seeking a strong, experienced commerce beauty editor to write and edit shoppable stories for Byrdie.com, joining a fast-paced news desk focused on commerce content.
The ideal candidate is a digitally savvy, shopping-obsessed news editor who is passionate about beauty product recommendations and can create engaging, top-quality editorial content in the Byrdie voice on a timely basis.
This person will be responsible for pitching, writing, assigning, and editing short-form, timely news & deals stories in the beauty space for Byrdie.com, along with overseeing testing-based roundups on beauty products and services on a smaller scale. They will work closely and synergistically with Byrdie’s news director and news editor.
You will (day-to-day)...
Pitch and write at least 1 short-form commerce article per day and/or edit 4 or more articles at the intersection of beauty, fashion, celebrity, and wellness categories
Monitor the internet, including social media and search platforms, to identify and carry out commerce content opportunities around trends, celebrity recommendations, viral products, and more
Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide content decisions; help ideate and curate creative and thoughtful pitches related to timely, on-brand topics
Build partnerships and work collaboratively with writers and editors on the team and others to meet shared objectives
Make regular updates to existing content based on out-of-stocks and traffic and revenue performance; attend regular editorial meetings
Keep content records organized in workflow platforms such as Airtable; track and report on results of team editorial efforts; build in the CMS as needed

You are…
A clean writer and adept editor with at least 3-4 years of experience in the digital editorial space for an online publication (experience writing commerce/shopping content highly preferred)
Familiar with the Byrdie brand and voice; experienced and knowledgeable in beauty and shopping content
Experienced in digital media metrics and tools, such as CMS platforms, Google Trends, and Google Analytics
Comfortable working with data to guide editorial strategy; knowledgeable in SEO, AP style, and affiliate linking best practices
A quick learner who is excited about commerce content, eager to take on new challenges, and able to identify untapped opportunities for growth
A flexible, organized person who can handle multiple tasks at once, and seamlessly pivot and re-prioritize tasks as needs change
Ideally, you have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field

Pay Range
Salary: $62,400 - $80,000
