The Casper Star-Tribune is Wyoming’s only statewide newspaper and we are seeking a full-time state government reporter to join our award-winning team.
Come live, work and play in the heart of the Mountain West! Casper offers a walkable downtown with great food, music, art galleries, breweries and more. And, for those inclined to outdoor recreation, Wyoming has it all. Skiing, snowboarding and miles of hiking trails are a 20 minute drive up the mountain. And, being centrally located, Casper is only a few hours from Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Devils Tower and so much more.
We are a close-knit newsroom with a collaborative environment. The Star-Tribune offers the opportunity to take a deeper dive into issues and work on larger enterprise pieces -- whether investigative or feature stories.
The beat includes (but is not limited to) covering the Wyoming Legislature, state Republican and Democrat parties as well as our congressional delegates and issues affecting Wyoming that arise on a federal level.
Successful candidates will have a journalism degree and experience however, we will consider new graduates who have completed internships or experience at the college newspaper. The ability to report in today’s instant digital news environment is critical. The right person will be a self-starter, willing to jump in and find the stories that our readers value. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be able to work nights and weekends as needed. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
This is a union position with pay starting at $40,000 annually.
