Copyeditor

Catena Media is seeking a freelance copy editor to edit existing content, from evergreen pages to news stories geared toward specific sporting events, sports betting and online casino apps, and general how-to guides. Additional duties will include updates to existing pages based on the editorial calendar. Knowledge of the North American sports betting market, US gambling market, and content marketing is a plus.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Read assigned content related to casinos, sports betting, or gambling. Edit for clarity and ensure content is free of errors.
Ensure accuracy through fact-checking and revise/rewrite copy as required.
Flag subpar content and provide feedback to stakeholders early in the editing process.
On occasion, edit or revise content previously published on sites.
Experience in digital publishing, both editorial and commercial copy.
Exceptional understanding of English grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, spelling, and knowledge of AP style.
Utmost attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to accuracy.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Two- or four-year college degree, preferably in sports journalism or content marketing
Excellent writing and strong copy-editing skills
Basic understanding of SEO and affiliate marketing
Ability to update content in WordPress
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Outstanding organizational and communication skills

Working Conditions:

This position is 100% remote. Must be available during regular business hours. Evening and/or weekend work on occasion. Must possess a stable high-speed internet connection and working cellular telephone. Must be able to routinely perform indoor work with minimum noise levels. Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on one’s own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of oneself and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence, naturally or electronically and may include adaptive aids. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate the highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

Physical Requirements:

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer. At times, occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
