The Executive Producer for the CBS News Streaming Network’s weekend and late news programming is a key decision-maker who leads live-news coverage and editorial planning on weekends and supports late news priorities during the week. The Executive Producer comes into each day with an eagerness to find compelling ways to tell and evolve stories through top-of-hour live updates and full streaming news shows on weekends and plays an active role in the editorial process by leading producers, assignment, and planning editors to prepare coverage plans that are comprehensive and represent the depth, breadth and diversity of our global news organization.
This role also encompasses interrupting the streaming network and leading the stream team during breaking news events on weekends, supports both breaking and planned news coverage during the late-night hours on weekdays, and serves as a fill-in newscast Executive Producer on weekdays.
The Executive Producer is a key contributor who demonstrates the ability to produce eye-catching and informative live journalism, is editorially rigorous and collaborative, and has a track record of thriving in a fast-paced newsroom while keeping calm during high-stress situations.
This role is based in New York City. While the role is eligible for Paramount Global’s hybrid work model, the minimum required in-office days are fixed on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesday nights.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead weekend Streaming team to produce and execute live coverage in the control room
Monitor breaking news on weekends and make critical decisions about whether to interrupt programming with live news coverage
Lead weekend team in the control room during breaking news events
Work with booking producers, planning and assignment editors, bureau chiefs, correspondents, and streaming producers to establish an editorial programming plan for the upcoming weekdays, ensuring programs feature comprehensive planned coverage and are always updated with breaking news
Participate in editorial and production meetings to develop insightful, original coverage
Commission and review research to prepare anchors for high-impact interview segments
Monitor CBS News weekend broadcast programming to determine which segments should be re-aired and commission editors to prepare those segments in advance
Make and communicate decisions about how to handle top stories that materialize late in the day
Write and distribute a daily evening handover note, clearly communicating the next day’s plan
Serve as fill-in executive producer for weekday news hours, leading an editorial team to produce live programming
Serve as key editorial leader in the newsroom and control room on weeknights to drive coverage during scheduled and breaking news, as well as special events
Create and support a positive work culture
Maintain the highest standards of CBS News
Basic Qualifications:
At least seven years of experience in broadcast journalism, with recent experience at a national or global broadcast, cable, or streaming news organization
At least five years of experience leading news teams to achieve extraordinary results
Experience producing & boothing live newscasts in a national news environment
Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends and unpredictable hours on short notice based on news and coverage needs

Excellent organizational skills that allow for balancing several projects at same time and prioritizing when needed
