CBS News’ Growth & Engagement team is looking for a Push & Platforms Editor to help drive our early morning coverage. This role is responsible for writing up CBS Mornings segments and other stories as needed for CBSNews.com, drafting and sending push alerts across platforms, optimizing YouTube channels and pitching content to editorial partners.
They should be a skilled writer who responds quickly to breaking news, identifies high-interest stories and uses strong editorial judgment to determine the best way to frame content and distribute stories across CBS News and partner platforms.
The schedule will be Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET (open to remote). You will also be expected to work some holidays and shift your schedule as needed.
Your day-to-day:
Write articles and video headlines and descriptions for CBS Mornings; write trending content for CBSNews.com when needed.
Work closely with producers, rights & clearances, legal and standards teams to ensure content is accurately framed and cleared for publication.
Write and send app, web, Apple News, OTT alerts and breaking news emails.
Curate and optimize YouTube channels.
Help pitch editorial content to distribution partners like Apple News, Yahoo, etc.
Track and report back on analytics to help inform the team’s decisions.
Occasionally help Growth & Engagement digital producers, clipping segments from the CBS News stream for distribution on CBSNews.com and YouTube.
Qualifications:
You have 2+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment and proven ability to react quickly as news develops.
You’re a strong writer and self-editor who can move quickly and with precision.
You're familiar with analytics platforms like Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat, YouTube Studio, etc.
You know how to craft a compelling headline following SEO best practices.
