The Features Department is responsible for the originating, pitching, and producing (or commissioning) of all long-form content (other than The Agenda) for CGTN Europe.

The Features department seeks out leaders, creators and commentators in their field.

Our diverse team of senior filmmakers bring their skills and experience to bring world-class features to CGTN's audience. Through in-depth research, dynamic presenting/scripting and cutting-edge filming and editing techniques, we tell stories that engage, inform, and enlighten our viewers.

Currently the Department's regular output is the weekly award-winning science show, RAZOR, which is made with a mix of in-house and freelance personnel and resources.

There is also the opportunity to work on documentaries.

Background to the role:

Support the Head of Features Department by advising, where necessary, on film structure, logistics and other matters related to the smooth running of the team.

Person specification:

Work as one of a small team of producers working to the Head of Features Department, CGTN Europe.
Initiate and implement original story ideas across a wide range of subjects for broad audience appeal.
Be proficient in and take responsibility for all aspects of program production - writing, line-up, logistics and workflow.
Work with contributors and field teams to ensure that items match programme requirements as well as meet editorial and craft-quality standards.
Demonstrate creativity and originality in feature programming.
Deliver reports with fluency and authority
Partner with the Online team to develop digital content extensions to linear programming.
Excel at work within a culturally and ethnically diverse staff.
Be prepared to travel on assignment across the UK, Europe and sometimes worldwide.
Perform other duties as required by the Company.

Essential:

Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years' experience in television, preferably feature programming.
Extensive general knowledge - current events, geopolitics, international relations, arts, history, science, and technology.
