Senior Content Editor

The Chicago Tribune is seeking an editor to oversee its coverage of Chicago City Hall, Cook County government and Chicago Public Schools.

What you will do:

We are looking for a high-energy, creative thinker who will inspire reporters to dig beneath the surface in examining the city's problems, show empathy for the voiceless, hold officials accountable and elevate our storytelling

The editor will need to work with reporters to break news as well as develop impactful enterprise stories and longer-term projects as time allows

What you will bring:

Strong line-editing skills, including the ability to identify holes in stories, and will hold the team to the highest ethical and journalistic standards

Posses strong news judgment, rigorous editing standards, watchdog instincts and a commitment to serving all of Chicagoland's diverse audiences A minimum of ten years' newsroom experience is desired, including significant experience reporting or editing government news
