The Chicago Tribune is seeking a senior editor to lead our new emerging news desk. The right candidate will have extensive reporting experience and the demonstrated ability to strike quickly and produce meaningful enterprise and watchdog work. Ideally, this person has significant experience leading a team or teams that have produced high-impact journalism in a breaking or high-pressure setting. The Emerging News Desk will be called on to reach across departments to identify the “story of the day” and deploy some of our most talented and experienced journalists. Topics will range from crime to entertainment to City Hall to dining or even sports. Our goal is to use some of our best resources to elevate the Tribune’s daily coverage in a way that leads to richer, deeper conversations about city and region.
