Reporter, Pro Buyer

This role is about reporting and writing stories that matter to fund buyers and portfolio managers. Reporting to the Citywire Pro Buyer Editor, the stories will be published online and in our daily newsletter. This role involves breaking news about the asset management industry, writing in-depth analysis pieces and profiles, and building industry contacts in order to stay ahead of the news.

The topics you will be covering include asset management trends, M&A transactions, hirings and firings, investment strategies, and regulatory news. Success is defined by writing unique, timely and relevant stories, and will require finding and cultivating sources in order to break news and uncover important angles.

Citywire is a provider of independent data and content for the asset management and corporate industries. Our proprietary data and analytics help to power our solutions across content (publishing), conferences, licensing, and third-party content production. We employ around 300 talented employees and have a global reach, with offices in London, Brighton, Paris, Munich, Milan, New York and Singapore. Our London office, where you will be based, is our global headquarters.

Main Responsibilities:

Writing exclusive news stories pertaining to, and relevant to, allocators and asset managers.
Building contacts and establishing good sources among the manager research and asset manager community to get exclusive news.
Pitching and writing longer-form features and profiles.
Researching and (when possible) traveling to get the inside track on the world of wealth and fund management.

Job Specific Skills / Technical Skills / Requirements

Experience or industry-specific training as a reporter.
Excellent writing skills and the ability to write clearly in a timely manner.
Strong source development skills.
An understanding of the wealth industry or financial markets as a plus.
