Your New Role...

The Executive Editor works closely with our International Amanpour team in developing and planning content and overseeing the editorial direction and broadcast of CNN's Amanpour programme. It is vital to have a strong editorial guide in this role, developing content for the programme and managing the show staff. The Executive Editor will be a strong communicator and collaborator, working closely with international departments in New York and Atlanta, digital teams, and external entities when required.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Oversee editorial content and production of programme, including story selection, reviewing rundowns and graphics
Working closely with the international programme producers responsible for coverage planning, identification of guests and assigning correspondents, while liaising with newsgathering to resource these assignments
Provide regular face to face as well as written performance feedback to direct reports
Meet regularly with show teams and post mortem to improve and support all aspects of our coverage
Oversee scheduling of direct reports
Coordinate with the sponsored programming unit - this is essential to ensure delivery of monetized content and to seamlessly integrate same with programming

Qualifications And Experience...

A degree, ideally in journalism, arts or humanities, or equivalent experience.
Must have strong international current affairs knowledge and contacts in the show's relevant domain.
Proven track record in an international television news operation in a comparable position as a senior/supervising producer or reporter.
Proven track-record in programme output is a must.
Understanding of editorial, technical and logistical practices of international newsgathering and programme crafting including journalistic standards and practices.
Ability to work across multiple platforms.
Must be able to multi-task, innovate, "step up" and lead partnerships with international affiliates and bureaux in special coverage projects when necessary.
Strong production and writing skills combined with effective management and communication skills, both verbal and written are essential.
A team leader and motivator, this executive will spearhead and drive our international Amanpour show coverage.
Languages other than English, especially regional languages, are an advantage.
