Your New Role...

CNN seeks a talented Senior Producer to join The Lead with Jake Tapper in Washington, DC!

Your Role Accountabilities...

Run point on booking guests, panelists, and other talent for a range of segments that air on the Washington-based news program The Lead with Jake Tapper. That includes gaming out the best possible guests for the program days, weeks, and sometimes months in advance.
Lead the booking team in maintaining futures calendar and guests records.
Have strong sense of political calendar and the cadence of Washington news and breaking news.
Identify, establish and maintain critical relationships with newsmakers, talent, and sources and to continually expand network of bookings.
Must also be able to develop and cultivate and maintain new guest relationships on behalf of the program.
Research prospective guests and conduct pre-interviews, sharing details thoughtfully with all staff involved in production.
Promote interviews within CNN, making sure our many platforms are aware of our content.
Bring your eye for unique opportunities to cover stories off the beaten path.
Write pitch letters.
Plan and communicate about booking logistics and ensure strong partnership between The Lead team and other teams at CNN.
Prepare background information for anchor and producers.
Research and provide video, photo, and graphic elements with sourcing and in a timely manner.
Proof guest-related fonts and information.
Represent the show at networking events.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience...

Responsible for providing top-tier, news-making guest ideas and complete the bookings, as well as pitch production and editorial ideas daily, with focus on most appropriate voice to speak on a given issue on a global scale.
Must be aggressive in identifying both unique guest ideas in breaking news, with production follow through in mind.
Must also be able to navigate breaking news with accuracy and
Need the ability to clearly articulate the lead editorial focus for guest interviews
Astute news and political awareness a must.
Established rolodex and booking experience necessary.
Must be well-read and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Organizational skills and writing skills are essential to this position.
Enthusiasm for mentoring teammates.
Editorial booking experience required.
A qualified candidate for this position must have 7+ years as a booking producer or equivalent production experience.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience.
Excellent attitude and collaborative approach even in challenging moments or on tight deadlines.
Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends as news warrants. And must be willing to be a part of CNN’s election coverage.
This is an onsite position and some travel may be part of the role.
