University Communications and Marketing creates and disseminates communications for the University. This includes daily calendar and announcements, news releases, articles for Connections, articles for other outlets, content for Minot State’s website, content for academic, enrollment, and marketing publications.
This employee will work closely with all campus units. This position is responsible for creating effective branded content for prospective and enrolled students via print and web by writing, proofing and/or editing marketing materials and web content. This position also assists with the University’s web calendar, and the production of news releases. The position will work with the webmaster to create, edit and/or redesign web pages and sites for departments and offices to deliver a branded and cohesive style across campus. The individual will assist web administrators to create/edit web pages and websites. This position will report to the Director of University Communications.
Responsibilities
Communications
Research and write news releases and feature articles for the Minot State website and Alumni and Development Foundation magazine Connections.
Edit and managing the University’s web calendar.
Assist with tutoring student worker team.
Assemble, edit, upload, and disseminate the digital file for MSU’s Inside monthly newsletter.
Marketing Office
Create and edit content for Minot State’s website and write/edit publications, brochures, posters/etc. to ensure brand consistency
Write, edit, and review content, including review of appropriate photography/video, for the University’s nearly 2,500 webpages.
Develop content for campaigns executed through a wide range of mediums including digital, social, and print.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree Required – with emphasis on: Journalism, Writing, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Social Media, English, Multimedia Studies, or related degrees.
Minimum of two years of professional writing experience for the web, publications, and/or digital media. Other requirements include: proven ability to write (writing sample/portfolio required with application), edit, and proofread effectively; AP writing experience, ability to anticipate web content needs and envision new content ideas; ability to work both independently and in teams; skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously; strong attention to detail; and experience with Word, Excel, InDesign, and web software.
This employee will need to be energetic, a team player, have a creative spirit and excellent verbal communication skills. In addition, proficiency in Word, Excel, web browsers will be required with knowledge of InDesign and/or Quark, and Photoshop.
