The email strategist and developer will help to lead the technical side of our messaging initiatives, building, scheduling, and monitoring campaigns within Dynamics our email marketing platform and working within our new Email Admin tool to create and manage our transactional emails. The job requires expertise in email best practices and tools, the ability to work easily within a fast-paced team environment, and strong communication and collaboration skills as the role requires working closely with PMs, copywriters, designers, developers, and engineers across a broad spectrum of projects.
Required Skills:
7+ years of experience in Email Marketing
Expert in email marketing best practices and tactics
Expertise with enterprise ESPs like Marketo and HubSpot. Experience with MS Dynamics a plus
Expert with email design best practices. Email design experience including Adobe or Affinity products. Experience with Figma a plus
Expert in building and implementing complex email programs, workflows, and automation
Familiarity with API integrations
Expertise in conversion copywriting for email marketing
Expertise in template scripting for sophisticated email personalization
Expert in HTML and CSS; expert in email coding best practices
Strong analytical skills, with experience conducting and documenting A/B tests to optimize campaign performance
Strong analytical thinker with the ability to create and interpret reports, along with suggesting strategy changes to improve campaign performance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of working effectively cross-functionally
Exceptional organizational skills and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines concurrently
Bachelor's in marketing, communications, or a related field; Master’s preferred
The email marketing manager’s tasks include these responsibilities:

Monthly Breakdown of Tasks:
Creating and executing email campaigns to optimize and meet client's goals for engagement and conversion
Executing special promo campaigns

Setting up one-time sends as the need arises
Creating and segmenting new send lists
Adjusting existing send lists as needed
A/B testing email elements including designs, copy, subject-line, format, and template
Building and coding transactional emails
Rebuilding transactional emails to transfer between stacks
Building net new transactional emails using new templates
Supporting international and new initiatives with new transactional emails
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
Troubleshooting technical issues as they arise
Screening send plans and campaigns to catch technical issues before they arise
Gaining deep knowledge of existing email structure from a technical standpoint and making recommendations for improvement
Collaborating with stakeholders
Collaborating with email coder to create and test new email template(s)
Collaborating with Business Program Manager to optimize campaigns
Collaborating with developers and engineers on best way to integrate sends with the website backend

Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm – This contractor will not have many meetings, only some regular team meetings like a weekly sync and potential ad-hoc meetings.
A typical day will include a handful of emails to code, schedule and deploy as well as troubleshooting technical issues and resolving or report findings to sponsor.
Email campaigns are scheduled in Airtable – the contractor will check the platform in afternoon for the next day’s schedule
There will be frequent communication with engineer team to update data fields and help troubleshoot technical issues.
Interaction level with sponsor/team – high, The contractor will work very closely with sponsor and be highly integrated with the small team of another email marketing manager, a few copy writers, designers, and a proofreader.
The contractor will be in close collaboration with the other Email Strategist/Developer as well, constantly chatting on Teams.
Chance for extension later? – Budget has been approved for 12 months and likely to extend to full 18 months.
