Compose.ly has partnered as an exclusive recruiter with a major online publisher in the finance sector seeking to hire one or more personal finance writers on a temporary full-time basis, for 40 hours a week for 6 months, with the possibility of extending the contract, to write for one or more of its branded online finance properties.
Our client needs a professional writer who’s knowledgeable and well-versed in financial topics to produce research-based, bylined articles to be published online. You’ll be a key contributor to a growing vertical, collaborating with the in-house team to shape the voice and help scale informative, accurate, and actionable content aimed at helping readers make sound financial decisions about financial products.

Are a flexible, experienced writer well-versed in personal finance content in one or more priority verticals: home equity loans, mortgages, insurance (home, dental, life, auto), credit cards
Understand and implement SEO best practices to create engaging, accurate, and optimized articles that meet the requirements of each assignment
Possess excellent research skills, not limited to finance content
Can write fluently and knowledgeably about the leading industry concepts for audiences with field knowledge and laypeople to deliver clean, factual, and insightful copy on deadline
Know when collaboration is necessary and when independent work should suffice
Have strong organizational and time-management skills
Can communicate and collaborate professionally and efficiently within a remote environment
Responsibilities
This position is full-time (40 hours/week), for a contract of 6 months, and working hours are Monday through Friday, during regular US business hours (PST, MST, CST, EST, or AST acceptable). Occasional evening hours may be necessary to accommodate business meetings.
You’ll be responsible for reporting and writing insightful articles, on deadline, with a high level of accuracy on financial topics for a general audience. You will contribute to updating evolving best-of lists and will write individual company reviews and guiding content on key topics, in addition to helping maintain a growing archive.
You will work on assignment, conforming to each brand’s style guide and each project’s individual guidelines and requirements, in addition to upholding high journalistic standards.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher
2+ years of writing experience
Proficiency in written English (US spelling and grammar conventions)
Expertise in AP Style
Successful completion of our grammar, spelling, and writing assessments
What would make you stand out
3+ years of journalistic writing experience
A degree in finance (master’s or PhD)
Financial certifications (CFA, CPA, FRM, insurance license, and similar)
Previous experience working with major financial publishers, such as Forbes, Nerdwallet, Investopedia, US News, Bankrate, and others
Intimate familiarity with SEO in content creation and current SEO best practices
