Job Description:
The General Assignment Reporter is a crucial member of our news team, responsible for covering a variety of news stories, from breaking news and community events to feature pieces and investigative reports. This role requires a proactive and adaptable individual who is passionate about journalism and storytelling and is committed to delivering accurate and compelling news content to our growing audience.
Key Responsibilities:
News Coverage:
Monitor and respond to breaking news events in a timely manner.
Research, investigate, and report on a diverse range of topics, including politics, community issues, crime, health, and more.
Interviews and Research:
Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and community members to gather information for news stories.
Utilize online and offline resources for in-depth research to support reporting.
Writing and Reporting:
Write clear, accurate, and engaging news articles that adhere to journalistic standards and AP style guidelines.
Present facts, interviews, and research in a coherent and unbiased manner.
Photography and Multimedia:
Capture photos and videos to complement news stories.
Collaborate with the social media team to produce multimedia content for online and print publications.
Deadline Management:
Work efficiently and meet tight deadlines, particularly when covering breaking news events.
Adapt to rapidly changing situations and adjust reporting strategies accordingly.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other reporters, editors, and photographers to ensure comprehensive coverage of news stories.
Share story ideas and insights with the editorial team.
Community Engagement:
