The Role
The Content and Data Editor is responsible for growing our digital content and ensuring the content and data contained on the Morrisby careers platform is accurate, current and regularly updated.
They will manage a team of external writers to support this effort. The role reports to the Head of Guidance, and sits within the Careers, professional and data department.
The key areas of responsibility are:
1. Plan and organise regular data and content updates for careers, subjects, providers, apprenticeships, courses and all other related information
2. Commission and manage external writers to create or update all resource content in a timely manner and to drive new content initiatives
3. Personally update the content and data where required
4. Manage the delivery of new, engaging content for all customers across a range of media
Specific duties will include:
- Plan for the regular update of all associated Morrisby content and data. This includes qualitative and quantitative information and involves tens of thousands of rows of data
- Contact external writers and train them to update or create content for the candidate site, using the internal content management system
- Manage external writers during the duration of update projects, responding to their questions and addressing any tech or content questions. Approve invoices for the work carried out by external careers writers
- Editorial quality control of all new and existing content, including imposition of appropriate style guidelines and process documentation
- Working alongside the Head of Guidance to update, create and review lesson plans/activities, outsourcing the updates and creations where necessary
- Liaise with third party data suppliers - UCAS, THE, Eunicas, CAO, LightCast - and ensure that this data is appropriately cleansed, coded and formatted before it is imported
- Edit data directly in the database when required, using SQL as needed (training will be given)
- Review, edit and update insight articles
- Commission new insight articles, with a plan for the coming year, in consultation with the Marketing Manager
- Manage the update of the Knowledge Library, including generating ideas for new topics and related resources
- Organise a schedule of videos to be recorded by relevant professionals within the business, edit these and work with the Marketing Manager to promote them. Add relevant videos to Morrisby
- Create a new content programme (including videos, webinars and blogs) to engage with our various audiences, and commission writers and speakers from within and outside the business to contribute

Person SpecificationEssential:
- Significant experience in a content management or publishing role - experience of commissioning or delivering content
- Practical knowledge of updating, editing and creating digital content
- Forward thinking and excellent organisation and planning skills for regular data and content updates
- Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate sometimes complex data and content needs to writers and in order to effectively train them to use our internal data management tool and to employ the style guidelines
- Relationship building is essential to build trust and expertise among the external writers team and with external providers and internal colleagues
- Experience of evaluating the quality of content and providing feedback or constructive criticism where necessary
- Excellent English language understanding to ensure quality and clear communication is paramount within the Morrisby platform
- Close attention to detail to ensure the guidance within our platform is the best in class
- Confident decision maker; you may be asked your opinion on how something could be or should be displayed on the site
- Approachable so that internal staff and external careers writers feel comfortable in asking you questions and drawing on your expertise
- Ability to interact with colleagues and customers positively, being able to set expectations where needed
- Tech savvy and have a genuine interest in software and products
Desirable:
- Publishing or careers backgrounds would be a plus
- Understanding of the careers profession, with an appreciation for the challenges of careers work within state and independent schools in the UK and internationally
- Knowledge, or application of, good careers provision and best practice
- Experience of using SQL to query and update a database
- Prior experience using video editing software
- Experience of managing or implementing brand guidelines

- Salary £30,000-£35,000 per annum
- 26 days holiday increasing to 29 days after 2 years service. 4 days of the allowance must be taken over the Christmas period
