Deputy Editor
The Deputy Editor will focus on developing and maintaining financial wellbeing content for a brand new app. Content-wise, it’s a financial feast, with briefs exploring debt-management strategies, money-boosting tactics, insurance tricks, wellness tips, budgeting hacks and so much more.
The Deputy Editor will join a high-performing content team, and contribute to a wider multidisciplinary effort to deliver the app to market. Post-launch, they’ll work to create richer lives for every user, using data insights to evolve and enhance content.
The ideal Deputy Editor is an experienced writer, with fierce sub-editing and content administration skills. They’re highly organised, with a careful eye for detail and able to deliver exceptional quality work, at scale.
Responsibilities for the Deputy Editor
· Report to the Editor on all content duties, creating new work, while maintaining and improving the existing content bank, tracking the workflow of Content Creators and the wider team
· Conceive original editorial ideas, and write educational, compelling and persuasive content that motivates our members to pursue a happier and healthier relationship with money
· Observe and enforce content production processes, suggesting methods to improve efficiency
· Own briefs and additional content tasks from start to completion, acting with autonomy, maintaining regular communication, addressing updates, questions and edits as necessary
· Sub-edit new content produced by the wider team, enforcing our style guidelines and maintaining our high standards
· Organise and format content to fit a predefined template within a Content Management System and go through a series of pre-flight checks to prepare work for publish
· Maintain and update the existing content within the app, keeping its information and data relevant and up-to-date
· Write content for a variety of marketing activities, including scripts, social media, web assets, advertisements and internal communications
· Be a strong 2IC (second in command) on the team to the Editor, helping to lead, inspire, motivate and train team members
Requirements for the Deputy Editor
· 6+ years of experience in a similar role, you have substantial experience in a fast-paced brand content environment
· Experience of financial services or insurance sector is advantageous, and/or creating content for a mobile app
· You love writing and have a journalistic flair. An interest in data storytelling would lend itselfto the role
· Highly adaptable, relentlessly curious, eager to make an impact and resist perfectionism - Passionate about building team and company culture, and support the Editor in driving team initiatives
