The Content Editor will demonstrate their creative skills by transforming Southern Seminary and Boyce College content in various engaging and impactful forms of media and determining the best distribution method with a specific focus on email newsletters.
Essential Job Functions
The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
Collaborate with Content Marketing team to develop, implement and measure a comprehensive digital communications & content marketing strategy, with focus on email newsletters (Scene at Southern, Towers, Southern Equip and the Bookstore) by analyzing the target audience
Transform existing video and print content into other forms of media using creativity to condense and reformat video material into short-form videos and articles for the goal of engaging wider audience
Enhance content through editing to ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence and by creating and designing visual effects and graphics for continent
Design assets to be used for institutional social media accounts and email newsletters
Leverage blogs, newsletters, and other relevant channels to promote and distribute the content and monitor and analyze the performance using data-driven insights to refine and optimize future distribution strategies
Proactively involved in the content production process from ideation to final distribution; generating new ideas and concepts from chapel sermons, lectures, bookstore events, blogs, video content, etc. to use in innovative and engaging ways
Build editorial calendar for email newsletter strategy, including quarterly strategies for both Southern Seminary and Boyce College social properties, monthly newsletter, and weekly campus news email
Utilize content created by Director of Marketing and Director of Digital Communications to design layout for email newsletters
Maintain accurate database and subscription lists and work to strategically increase subscribership
Provide expertise as necessary for other institutional offices that utilize email newsletters
Manage Southern Equip website
Work within Brand Style Guide to maintain consistency across campus, providing suggestions for improvement where possible
Stay up to date with emerging content marketing trends, platforms, and distribution methods and integrate them into the overall strategy
Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
Education
The person in this position is preferred to have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies or a related field of study.
Experience
The person in this position should have 1-2 years of experience in a similar position with the following expertise: proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe Suite and InDesign. Strong skills in writing, editing and proofreading are desired. Familiarity with email newsletters, content management systems and/or SEO principles are preferred.
