The Content Marketing and Website Specialist position is responsible for working with the Marketing team to creatively and effectively tell the stories of the University. The goal is to positively, consistently, and aggressively market the University to positively impact enrollment, community relations, and University success. The incumbent must possess a strategic and curious mind with an ability to see potential uses for new technology. They also must be creative, dedicated, passionate, and enthusiastic about producing content, with emphasis on storytelling, creativity, and willingness to try new approaches while upholding the University’s brand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Coordinate efforts with the marketing team and campus faculty and staff to tell the stories of WPU.
Interview individuals to obtain information for blog posts and other content.
Create and post content: blog posts, articles, infographics, vlogs, video promotions, news releases, and other content for the University website or other channels.
Coordinate with SEO team to incorporate strategic topics and keywords into content as directed.
Collaborate with the Social Media Manager on the best ways to share WPU stories via social channels.
Shoot photos or videos to accompany the content when needed.
Publish content on the WordPress site with images and correct tags.
Assist with management of the WordPress website and content, helping update or change pages or posts.
Write and create other content including newsletters, calendar items, and print or digital ads.
Continually assess emerging technologies and new ways of using existing technologies in telling the stories of the University and its various constituency groups (Students, Faculty/Staff, Alumni).
Work effectively with a diverse population of employees, students, guests, and community members.
Assist with other marketing tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of WordPress and email marketing software. Must also have a willingness to learn applications to effectively perform duties; excellent research and writing skills; and strong interpersonal skills. Must be highly organized and creative, with a willingness to develop and share new ideas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in marketing or communications is a plus. Experience Photo or video editing experience or software knowledge. Preferred experience with social media management software such as Hootsuite, AgoraPulse, etc.
