The role
The Content Writer will be part of the global marketing team and will be responsible for creating compelling written content on a range of business and technology subjects. We’re looking for someone who is a writing machine and a natural storyteller – you can turn briefing notes into compelling content and copy fast, can juggle multiple projects and have a genuine passion and interest in how technology is changing the way businesses work.
You are a brilliant storyteller with a knack for finding the hook that will make people want to read on. You live and breathe digital-first, SEO-friendly, social-sharable B2B content and can write in a human, engaging style that drives customer interest and engagement. You also have an eye for detail, ensuring that all content going out meets our brand guidelines and tone of voice. And you’re able to write across a range of different formats.
What You’ll Be Doing
Hands-on writing across a range of formats including:
Website copy
Social media posts
Reports, ebook and guides
Blogs, news and updates
Press releases (working with the PR team)
Email newsletters
Sales cadence emails and call scripts
Paid media ad copy
Video scripts
Case studies and win wires
Award entries
You will also:
Work with the design team, to contribute to the layout of content and collateral for all SoftwareOne properties – know how to and when to update online properties based on narratives etc.
Manage and oversee content writing agencies who will provide additional writing capacity
Edit and proofread content from others in the broader marketing team, ensuring all-round consistency of style, tone, quality, clarity, creativity, authenticity and adherence to brand guidelines
Identify and contribute to the development of non-written content types including micro-sites, infographics, imagery, podcasts and videos
Work with various stakeholders to ensure the content plan is executed, workflows are followed, deadlines met, approvals secured, and deliverables are shared with the broader global marketing team
Requirements
What we need to see from you
8+ years of experience in content marketing and content writing, PR or journalism, in the B2B technology space
Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills in English. Native English speaker – a must – with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Excellent storytelling abilities with a flair for turning technical information into compelling content using human language that engages
Degree in Marketing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related field / or equivalent relevant experience
Proven work experience as a content writer, copywriter, or similar role with written work samples to be provided and reviewed – agency experience preferred
Experience applying brand positioning and messaging across all channels, from creation to training and providing governance to the broader team and agency network
An understanding of SEO-friendly copy and marketing funnel stages, to ensure content delivers results
An ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at the same time, working with colleagues around the world, not all of whom are English proficient
Ability to prioritise, work both independently and as part of a team
Be able to take briefs from customers, partners and subject matter experts, acting professionally
Creative, strategic thinker- bring up new ideas and present them in a clear engaging way
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, anticipate needs and exercise independent and sound judgment
