The Content Writer / Producer is part of a team responsible for managing the communication and delivery of AALD program of events held in both Australia and the US including: the annual AALD Forum, West Coast Leadership Dialogue, Honolulu Leadership Dialogue, Young Leadership Dialogue Retreats, AALD Academies and Virtual Programming.
This position will be responsible for conceptualising, designing, and producing a range of materials, including handbooks, brochures, marketing flyers, and other collateral that effectively communicates our brand message. The position merges design aesthetics with captivating copywriting to play a crucial role in enhancing our marketing efforts and elevating our brand presence. This role requires design, strong writing skills, a marketing flair, and a willingness to contribute to international success.
Key responsibilities:
Develop visually engaging and informative materials that align with AALD’s brand identity, mission and objectives
Conceptualise, design, and layout handbooks, brochures, marketing flyers, and other print and digital assets, ensuring they captivate the target audience and communicate key messages effectively
Work in conjunction with the office team to manage event delivery
Craft compelling and persuasive copy writing that resonates with the audience and reinforces the AALD event narrative
Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and ensuring high-quality deliverables
Maintain a consistent and cohesive visual identity across all materials
Develop internal communications such as event manuals and running sheets as well as manage external communications with delegates and thought leaders
What we are looking for:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Completed studies in Journalism, International Business/Relations, Communications or similar related studies
Experience in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or similar software
Computer proficient particularly in Microsoft Suite of programs
Demonstrated experience producing accurate and succinct copy writing to tight deadlines
An ability to develop and maintain a web site
Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
Ability to produce logos, templates, letterheads, and other graphic design content which can be utilised across official documentation
Other desirable experience:
Strong familiarity with the Australia-US relationship
Previous experience in an NGO environment
Experience with government, trade, or foreign policy
Social media, graphic design or web design experience
