The copywriter is responsible for efficiently creating on-brief, on-deadline copy in all forms across both digital and traditional channels. A skilled storyteller who is passionate about the Gospel, the copywriter works within tone-of-voice guidelines and under the overarching communications strategy to generate content that resonates with new and existing audiences to increase brand awareness, brand advocacy, and support for ministry projects. The copywriter is also responsible for proofreading, editing, and quality control of copy, requiring outstanding English grammatical skills and a keen eye for detail.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION

• Reports to Head of Communications

• Collaborates closely with multiple departments across Samaritan’s Purse UK (SPI) and our International Headquarters (IHQ) in the United States.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write exceptional content that engages readers and tangibly communicates what God is doing through the work of Samaritan’s Purse, supported by meticulous research and outstanding storytelling skills.

• Create, adapt, and manage copy across the full spectrum of Samaritan’s Purse UK’s marketing channels, including email, print, website, project reports, annual reports, and press releases.

• Ensure written content is consistent with defined brand and tone-of-voice guidelines.

• Ensure digital copy is optimised and fit for purpose for the respective platform without compromising readability (including SEO considerations).

• Anglicisation of US-English copy provided by the International Headquarters (IHQ) team.

• Monitor and identify trends and audience interests to ensure copy remains both timely and highly relevant to a UK audience.

• Responsible for proofreading and quality control of all written content for Samaritan's Purse UK.

• Ensure copy is submitted and approved through the correct processes, people, and platforms in both the UK and US (IHQ).

• Exceptional grammatical skills and an eye for detail is essential.

• The ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen internal and external relationships.

• Ability to secure and interpret information for different audiences.

• Ability to multitask whilst remaining adaptable to changing priorities, including being flexible and responsive in times of crisis and emergency.

• Good organisational skills and exhibits the ability to meet tight deadlines.

• A proactive self-starter who shows initiative and perseverance despite any setbacks the demands of the role may face. • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes.

• Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g. English, Journalism or Marketing Communications etc.)

• Proven professional copywriting experience.

• Experience with WordPress and/or Drupal content management systems is desirable.
