Job Summary
The Copywriter is fluent in writing and developing tone of voice, creative strategy, concepting, and collaborating and has mastered the art of writing in multiple styles for various channels. They’re comfortable presenting to clients, and their ideas are creative, strategic, and always on-brand. Under the direction of associate creative directors, and in collaboration with art directors and designers, the copywriter helps develop conceptual ideas, develops voice and tone, and brings it to life with language that sings, motivates, and speaks to anyone who reads it. Copywriters are expected to regularly articulate their creative rationale for their creative work and present work if asked to do so in conjunction with other creatives.
A creative wordsmith that loves writing as well as the big ideas they represent. This person has a knack for creating everything from insightful headlines to persuasive long copy. We play in every medium from social to TV to audio, OOH, experiential and beyond. And, without a doubt, this role is a big opportunity for both conceptual thinking as well as craftsmanship. We make stuff and lots of it, so you’ll need to be able to work on your own or with an art director /designer to bring concepts and campaigns to life. This role can be remote or a part of our Chicago or Detroit offices.
While our offices are currently open, daily in-office attendance is not required.
General Responsibilities
Research; writing headlines, long-form copy, advertising copy, scripts, and web copy; content strategy; social media content creation; and all related copywriting tasks.
Collaborating creatively with art directors and creative team in developing creative concepts and ideas behind the work.
Articulating creative rationale for the creative work, effectively tying back to the project’s strategic goals.
Understanding user experience and concepts of usability, always putting the user/consumer at the center of their thinking.
Supporting associate creative directors and senior writers; aiding and facilitating in their roles and responsibilities.
Working with project managers to ensure work is delivered on deadline and to the clients’ and agency’s standards.
Managing multiple projects and maintaining workflow amid often tight, changing deadlines.
Concept, write, and present great creative work
Write for video, audio, print, web, social/digital and occasionally, long-format
Be a reliable, professional contributor to the creative team
Should be able to think and work quickly
Develop a strong working knowledge of clients’ businesses
Positively impact and influence creative group culture
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
3-5 years as copywriter, experience in an agency setting preferred. Specifically with B2B clients and financial services.
Degree/training as a copywriter and a portfolio of work to show for it.
Knowledge of digital, non-digital, and integrated media.
Ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks.
Curiosity, self-motivation, and a passion for digital media and culture as a whole.
The hiring range for this discipline within our industry is $60,000 to $85,000. Where an employee is paid within this range will depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, years of experience, education, internal pay structure, and other contributing factors.
