Senior Reporter

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Reporter located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Senior Reporter will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as researching, conducting interviews, reporting, and writing stories for both print and digital platforms. They will also be responsible for analyzing news, producing multimedia content, and working collaboratively with editorial teams.

We are looking for a sharp-eyed Senior Reporter who can step into the No. 2 position in our news department and be a leader. Duties include writing daily news stories, editing copy for content, grammar and AP Style and clearing pages for publication.

Qualifications

Strong reporting, news writing, and writing skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in multimedia content creation and editing
Ability to analyze complex information and convey it clearly and concisely to readers
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, and/or relevant experience in journalism
Understanding of various journalistic ethics and standards and ability to follow them
Understanding of AP Style guide and adherence to it on all copy

Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial include experience working with photo and video equipment, knowledge of social media platforms, and experience with SEO and website analytics.
