Suitable candidates will be working as reporters on national or well-established local newspapers or websites with an impressive track record of finding and breaking exclusive stories of national and global interest in the area of consumer affairs, personal finance and business. We are seeking someone with a strong interest in real estate, encompassing everything from national trends to local stories that highlight specific neighborhoods or even individual homes.

The right candidate will have a battle-tested expertise in online journalism while still maintaining an enthusiasm to learn and grow as a journalist. The DailyMail.com Money team offers a challenging but supportive environment for the right individual to elevate their skills and advance their career

Responsibilities:

Pitch and write engaging consumer news stories that will strike a chord with DailyMail.com readers
This will range from producing accurate breaking news stories under tight deadlines to thoughtfully crafting impactful real-life features
Grow an already strong network of industry contacts. This will involve attending industry events and allocating time for meetings with reps
Stay informed about developments in residential real estate, from the demise of boomtowns to new hotspots and also properties sold for record prices or celebrity transactions
Analyze data-heavy housing market reports to find compelling and engaging trends
Whatever the topic, write copy that is vibrant, easy-to-understand, conversational and accurate
Work with the picture desk to select eye-catching and relevant photos and commission graphics

Requirements:

A strong passion for the DailyMail.com brand, its editorial voice, and its global audience
In-depth understanding of residential real estate trends, both locally and nationally
Familiarity with local and national real estate databases
Journalism experience, preferably in digital news
Understanding of SEO, and if not an eagerness to learn quickly
Excellent collaboration skills - being a team player is vital
Passion for news in general and real estate and consumer journalism in particular
