DailyMail.com is looking for an energetic and skilled reporter to join our growing politics team in the build-up to the 2024 presidential election and beyond.
This is a rare opportunity for a smart, prolific journalist to write for the English-speaking world's most-read newspaper website as it expands and looks to the future.
You will cover news of the day in Washington D.C. whether it originates on Capitol Hill, at the White House, in Cabinet agencies or on the campaign trail.
The stories our team produces every day range from votes in Congress to major developments in national security and the workings in the West Wing.
Our reporters, who receive competitive salaries, thrive in a deadline-rich environment and cover every story with the urgency of breaking news.
They have to be comfortable breaking stories that will beat our competition, getting unrivalled scoops and will develop an expert understanding of the wide interests of our readers.
Outstanding candidates will be able to work flexible hours, be ready to cover news whenever it breaks, and be able to run live coverage of major events. This includes evenings and weekends.
They will be able to write sharp and entertaining copy and headlines and help our reporters with ideas, projects, and features.
They're natural storytellers and understand how to communicate in words, photographs, and video.
The successful applicant will be based in the Washington metro area. We offer competitive salary, benefits, and vacation time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or a varied portfolio of work published in the national press.
Strong knowledge of Congress, the White House and federal election campaigns
Experience covering U.S. politics for a news organization that operates in real-time.
Competence with a digital publishing platform
Understanding of live blogging and knowledge of SEO and social media.
A portfolio of published clips, including scoops covered across the national media, and exclusive interviews.
